Many times you might observe that your pen drive is not detecting in cyber cafe or in your college lab or in other places. Simply because the administrator has disabled USB drive detection. Again, how often has your data been stolen because someone connected an unauthorized USB to your computer and copied your files?  Well, you don’t need to worry because after reading this post you can disable your USB port in window to secure your data.
In this post I demonstrated two different method. First one is through registry editor and second one is through device manager. You can choose any of the method to block USB port in your windows computer. This tricks works on both windows 7 and 8 computer.

Enable or Disable USB Drives Through Registry Editor

This is the easiest method to enable or disable USB port of your PC. Follow the simple instruction carefully as below to enable or disable USB drive.
1. Go to Start > Run, type “regedit” and press enter to open the registry editor.
2. Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlset\Services\UsbStor
3. In the right pane, select Start, double click on it and change the value to 4.

4. Click OK. Done!

This will disable USB Ports and block you to use USB or Pen drives.
5.  To re-enable it, change value to 3. This will re-enable USB Ports and allow you to use USB or Pen drives.

Enable or Disable USB Drives Through Device Manager

If you still don’t find your USB drive working, you may have to look into the Device Manager. The Administrator could have possibly disabled the USB port here. Check out for any possibility in the Device Manager and enable the disabled port by right clicking on selected one and click Enable.
1. Press Ctrl+R to open Run window.
2. Type “devmgmt.msc” and press enter to open Device manager.
3. Now select universal bus controller as shown below picture.

4. Right click on that and then disable.
Now no one can access pen drive or USB port, your personal data’s are now safe from others.
